Recent Reviews Apartment Mart of Springfield

For the price, its ok. But be warned, the management is terrible (so dont expect any help or assistance from them, actually they are quite lazy), walls are paper thin (you can hear your neighbor flip on a switch), and maintenance/repair is ok (prompt repairs when needed).

Great apartments, great location and the nicest staff! I've lived here for 2 years now and absolutely love it.

I currently live in one of the apartments. I agree with the above reviews. The staff is nice unless you complain about something then they are extremely rude. I have been here for a few years and every since there was a change in the manager- it has gotten pretty bad. The owner can not be contacted so you have to deal with management who make up rules and policies as needed. I will most likely move out in the summer when my lease ends. They tout that they are luxury apartments but there are cracks in the ceilings, nails popping out etc. The blinds in my daughters room fell all of a sudden one night. Construction is definitely cheap. You can pretty much hear anything and EVERYTHING including my neighbor's late night activities. These are the most expensive apartments in the area but not worth the price. Better rent a house instead. It will cost you the same.

We looked at several places around town but these by far were the best! We have enjoyed living at Lake Pointe Apartments for the last 2 years and are only moving out because we are buying our first home! The owner of Apartment Mart is also our realtor so it is making the whole process so smooth. I highly recommend living here— friendly and competent staff, clean apartments, and very affordable for all that you get! Maintenance responded so quickly when we needed anything and they were prompt and courteous. Great place to live!

Two months ago, if I had written this review, I would have given Apartment Mart of Springfield a 4 star review, now I am regrettably forced to rate it 1 star after a series of disappointments involving the management of the property. Allow me to preface this review by saying that my fiancee and I are both people with disabilities, who use medical cannabis to treat them. We chose Prairie Vista Apartments in Chatham because on the surface it seemed like a very nice complex, which allowed smoking outdoors as per the lease. We had some issues, such as our washer and dryer not being hooked up properly at first and dumping water into our neighbors' home, but the on-site maintenance quickly fixed this and the issues were few, which is why I would have rated 4 stars. However, it became an issue that we smoked with a neighbor whose partner worked for the company as a maintenance worker. She reported us for the smell, and we were warned by the company to only smoke outside or we would be in violation of our lease. We complied with this, but this did not please our neighbor, who then used her connection to the company to file several false complaints on us for things we did not do, such as stealing peoples' mail. We did not discover these complaints until just recently when the landlord of our new property informed us of the marks on our record. Neither the neighbor issuing these complaints nor the landlord ever spoke to us about these reports, but they were applied to our account regardless and we're a black mark when trying to find a new home. These issues culminated in our neighbor throwing a tantrum early September 2020, and setting off fireworks to menace us off of our balcony a full year after we had been living in the apartment. We reported this behavior, and were subsequently told that despite previously being informed we could smoke on our balcony that no smoking of any kind was permitted on the premises- a flagrant lie, as the neighbor we were in conflict with smokes cigarettes regularly on her porch, and we had been told when the problems first began specifically to smoke on the balcony. We were then also informed that our lease would not be renewed as a result of the trouble being caused AFTER we had already signed the new lease, forcing us to find a new apartment before the end of the month or face nebulous consequences. No actual reason was ever given as to what we had done to violate the lease or void the lease we had just signed, and the entire situation was handled not by the actual landlord, Grant Holloway, but by a series of his secretaries, none of whom seemed to fully know what was going on or why we were being asked to leave. Our request to be given an explanation was never fulfilled. In closing, please think twice about renting from Apartment Mart of Springfield. Their staff routinely contradicts itself on policy, as reported by others in similar reviews, and the landlord (who is one of the few 5 star reviews for this business) allows his employees to actively bully and harass other tenants out of their homes while ignoring communication and hiding behind his secretaries. It is, in short, a nice set of apartments that are terribly mismanaged, with obvious favoritism shown to people working for the company, even when those employees' behavior is truly and shockingly out of line.

The closet organizers that are in some, if not all, of the Prairie Vista apartments in Chatham STINK! It isn't the same level of bad every day, but it can be really horrible at times. It seems that the coating on the wire is degrading and off putting a chemical smell. It's terrible to be embarrassed to have people in your home because of odors that you can't control. The manager has been very understanding and helpful, but the owner refuses to remove them. Make sure you check this out before you sign a lease. I don't know how I overlooked this in my walk through! Regarding noise, fortunately my upstairs neighbors are usually quiet, but now and then I can hear footsteps and their young child running, and I can always hear their washer and dryer running. I purposely opted to use the smaller bedroom as my "master" so that I'm not directly below the adults at night (ahem.) Place looks nice, the space is generous, but because of the issues above, and others I'm not going into, I cannot recommend this place to others.

Absolutely terrible. The apartments look so nice, clean & modern but cheap construction. The noise is terrible; I can hear every sound from the apartment upstairs, including my neighbors snoring, people using the toilet, every conversation etc. My neighbor behind me was a smoker & I would regularly have the smell of cigarettes come through the bathroom exhaust fan into the master bedroom/bath. The insulation in the outside walls is so thin, the second bedroom was almost unbearable in the winter. We had to use insulated drapes & plastic storm window kits, still the heat runs constantly. Attractive apartments, but way too pricey for what you get...non stop noise, high utilities.

They have on-site maintenance that respond to work orders the same day. Office management is always friendly and would always go above and beyond. They charge for most common things you get charged for after moving out such as a carpet cleaning if it needs it. Which you'll find isn't spelled out in any lease agreement no matter where you live. It does state in your lease that your security deposit is for any damages or cleaning, which is common sense. Would rent there again if I move back to town.
